Someone asked if I thought that antinomianism was as much of a problem as legalism. My answer was, that, yes, antinomianism is as big of an error as legalism is. It is a denial of God's character. The problem is that our default is legalism, as we were all born under law, in the Covenant of Works.
Even the antinomians that I know personally become quite legalistic about their antinomianism. It's a neat trick, but the Gospel is the answer to both, legalism and anitnomiansim. The answer to antinomianism isn't to throw more Law on it, and avoid proclaiming the Gospel. The answer to all sin is the Gospel. It is only the Gospel that is the power of God unto salvation.
